Zimbabwean participation in the 2015 High Performance Computing Winter School in South Africa

The HPC Winter School is South Africa’s Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC) flagship course in parallel programming for high performance computing and engineers from the Zimbabwe Centre for High Performance Computing Centre (ZCHPC) participated in the 2015 HPC Winter School held at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa from 28 June to 3 July 2015. The 2015 HPC Winter School training workshop was hosted and coordinated by the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC). The program was part of the collaborative gesture between the South Africa Centre for High Performance Computing and Zimbabwe Centre for High Performance Computing Centre initiated by the Southern African Development Community (SADC).The training workshop addressed key aspects of the HPC parallel programming and further illustrated how these tools are currently being applied to address research problems in the HPC applications area which was done through interactive lectures and computer tutorials. The 2015 HPC Winter School covered the following areas in summary:

  • Programming with OpenMP
  • Programming with MPI
  • Hybrid Programming
